Terry L. Hollrah
Chairman

Terry Hollrah is President and CEO of Hollrah Exploration Company in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He holds a B.S. and M.S. degree in Geology from Oklahoma State University. Terry began his career with Union Oil Company of California as an Exploration Geologist from 1977 to 1979. In 1979, he joined Samedan Oil Corporation as a District Exploration Geologist and focused on exploration of the Anadarko and Arkoma Basin areas of Oklahoma. In 1981, Terry became an Independent Consulting Geologist and later formed Hollrah Exploration Company as an oil and gas operating firm in 1992. He has been a member of AAPG for over 35 years and has served as Treasurer, Chairman of the House of Delegates, and as President of the Division of Professional Affairs for AAPG. In 1997, he received the Distinguished Service Award and in 2006, was awarded Honorary Membership to AAPG. Terry was recognized as Honorary Member of the AAPG House of Delegates in 2009. He is also a member of the Oklahoma City Geological Society, Tulsa Geological Society, and Society of Professional Earth Scientists.

Ronald E. Young
Vice-Chairman

Ron Young began his career with Humble Oil (now Exxon) in 1968. In 1979 he transitioned to Granite Energy. Mr. Young began work as an independent geologist two years later. He has been an active AAPG member since 1995, serving as a Houston Delegate and as Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Group Insurance. Ron, while remaining active in AAPG, is professionally retired. He resides in Midland, Texas.

James E. Brown

Jim Brown returned home to western North Carolina in 2008 after 39 years in oil and gas exploration and development. He and his wife Susan live in Fletcher, just outside of Asheville, NC. Jim still retains interests in oil and gas wells in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico, so he continues in his profession as an independent geologist while in retirement. Jim's professional career began in 1969 as a development geologist for Chevron in New Orleans. After Chevron, he advanced his career at Tenneco Oil, Cotton Petroleum and on to Sonat Exploration where he was VP - General Manager in both their Oklahoma City and Midland offices. In 1998, he left Sonat to join two Midland colleagues at their newly formed company named Val Verde Exploration and Production where they developed oil and gas prospects in West Texas and Southeast New Mexico. He has been an AAPG member for over 40 years and is currently a Certified Petroleum Geologist. Jim is also a member of the Houston Geological Society, West Texas Geological Society, and the Permian Basin Section SEPM. He holds BA and MS degrees in geology from NC State University.

Robert L. Countryman

Bob Countryman is currently a Consulting Geologist in Bakersfield, California. He began his career as a Geologist at Tenneco Oil Co after graduating from California State University with a B.S. degree in Geology. After earning an M.S. from University of California, Bob moved on to work for organizations such as UCLA, Gulf Oil Co, Chevron Overseas and USA until moving on to Occidental Oil Co in 2001 where he remained as Geological Advisor until 2009. Bob has been an active member of AAPG for over 20 years. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist and a California Registered Geologist.

James S. McGhay

Jim McGhay is Chief Geologist and Vice-President of Mid-Con Energy, an independent oil production company established in 2004. Jim has over 30 years of petroleum industry experience, both with privately-owned independent E&P companies operating in the greater midcontinent and eastern Rocky Mountain regions (Diamond Energy, Petromark Resources, and Henry Gungoll Associates), and as an independent geologist and consultant, (Geo Logic Concepts). His experience is in prospect generation, development evaluations, production acquisition, secondary recovery projects and associated regulatory matters. Jim holds a B.S. degree in Geology from Oklahoma State University. He has been a member of AAPG since 1972.

W. Burt Nelson

W. Burt Nelson is Senior Vice-President in the Energy Investment Banking Group at Jefferies & Company, Inc. Burt provides engineering management on acquisition, divestment, and corporate finance projects. He was VP of Engineering at Randall & Dewey prior to Jefferies' acquisition of R&D in 2005. Burt joined Randall & Dewey in June 1998. Burt worked for Sonat from 1989 to 1998. He held various engineering and management positions, serving as Chief Reservoir Engineer and Manager of Acquisition Evaluation. Burt worked for Amoco from 1979 to 1989 in Odessa and Houston. He was responsible for production and reservoir engineering in west Texas waterfloods, and the reservoir simulation of one of Amoco's first CO2 miscible floods. He assisted in the development of operating guidelines for field-wide CO2 flooding. Burt has served on the Board of Directors of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and remains active on society committees. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas.
